As I plow through processing my 500 weddings that I’ve recently shot (that may be an exaggeration) I am going to actually post a shoot of some yoga that I recently shot, since it relaxes me just to look at it. And yes, you guessed it… Margie is a previous bride whose wedding I shot last year. (Or you didn’t guess that at all, but here she is in her in the barbie pink chair in all her amazing slenderness: Check it out HERE!).
I LOVE shooting for small businesses – you can get so creative. Margie and I brainstormed and decided that Bryant Park (believe it or not) would be an ideal backdrop for fresh photos for her site. Here are some poses right on the steps of the Library. And yes, even New Yorkers stopped to gawk as we were shooting.
A little bit of fun background about Margie:
Before becoming a yoga teacher, Margie was a comedic actress. She had small roles on several popular TV shows, but she was best known for her comedy solo shows. She would write and perform semi-autobiographical shows making light of all of the difficulties life has to offer. She brings the same humor and playfulness to her teaching. Whether it’s back pain, toned abs or a sense of balance, Margie helps her students reach their goals without taking themselves too seriously.”
Margie is a 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, certified to teach vinyasa, prenatal and restorative to all levels and ages. Her new website is coming soon: www.yogawithmargie.com!
I basically did the whole shoot with my beloved 85mm 1.2 lens. We used natural lighting and dodged the sun. We did use a reflector at a few different points for closeup shots.
The fountain in Bryant Park.
At the New York Public Library. I love the minimalist yet textured background that it provides if you blur it out enough.
Margie is a blast, but she is also understanding and caring. She gets you, if you get what I mean.
