Amanda and Ben came from England to New York for a destination wedding, which was very exciting for me. I met with them about a half a year prior to the wedding to book the wedding in a very glamorous hotel lobby where they were staying.
They brought about 18 guests with them from England – mostly friends. Even though I didn’t understand what was said on the first try, I LOVED being surrounded by the British accent – it really felt like I was abroad (in a country where I’ve never been to before). The day was warm – with a bright sun and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. To my shock the guests told me that this was one of the warmest days they would even experience in England. Even though photographing against the sun was challenging, I was happy that New York welcomed them with a beautiful, bright day.
Getting ready shots. Perfume spraying is such a magical moment that I love to capture.
Overlooking the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan.
They rented a limo bus and played an awesome variety of music. (They would probably laugh at my American “awesome”).
I love backgrounds such as these – a garage door in the meatpacking district.
In Central Park right after the ceremony.
This was in the High Line Park – I like the bright colors of the buildings in this photo, playing with the flush on Amanda’s cheeks. I think she looks absolutely gorgeous.
Looking out over High Line Park.
Love the background in this one.
This was caught as Amanda was making her way over to a bench.
There was a bright sun throughout the entire day, which made it very challenging to shoot. When possible, I would turn the subjects away from the sun (to avoid squinting) and lighten up their faces with a flash – this is an example of such a picture.
And here you can see an entire slideshow from Amanda and Ben’s wedding!
