Whether shooting fashion, weddings, or portraits, the most important is that the facial expression and body positioning of the subject are convincing. In other words, the goal is to get the model to appear as close as possible to how they would in real life. This is why the first 30 minutes of the shoot are generally there to get the subjects used to the camera – after that is when the real fun starts.
In fashion photography, the pose of the subject can be slightly more flashy, a tad more “unnatural”, since the point of it is to show off the clothes.
